Qualifications:Ìý

  • Five or more years of experience supervising clean energy technicians, conducting competency assessments, or leading technician training programs with at least three of those years occurring in the last five years.Ìý
  • Received a recommendation from their company to serve as an assessor.Ìý
  • Demonstrated interest in raising the bar of trained and competent clean energy technicians.Ìý
  • Attended ¶¶ÒõÉ«ÇéÆ¬â€™s assessor training and certified by ¶¶ÒõÉ«Ç鯬 as an assessor.Ìý

Who is eligible for certification?

TechniciansÌýcoming with technical experience or from a similar field canÌýtake the assessment soon after the completion of a training program. If someone isÌýnew to the industry, they wouldÌýlikely needÌý3 – 6 months ofÌýin-field experience before taking the assessment.Ìý

Assessors must have experienceÌýsupervising technicians for 5+Ìýyears ORÌýa competency/training subject matter expert.ÌýÌý

How long is certification valid?

The certification lasts forÌýone year and can be automatically renewed as long as the individual attests to the fact that they are still actively working withÌýrelevant technologies (i.e. wind, solar, and battery storage)Ìýin the field.Ìý

How much does it cost?

How long does the assessment take?

The assessment isÌýapproximately 2-3Ìýhours per scenario and can take place over multiple days.  ThisÌýwill vary by company, technicianÌýproficiency, and several other factors such as weather,Ìýplanning, scheduling, etc. Ìý

How is certification different from training?

Training helps individuals develop the knowledge and skills needed for the job.Ìý¶¶ÒõÉ«Ç鯬 Workforce CertificationÌýis training-agnostic and independently verifies that a technician hasÌýdemonstratedÌýthe competenciesÌýrequiredÌýto perform that job safely and effectively, regardless of how or where those skills wereÌýacquired.Ìý

Is the ¶¶ÒõÉ«Ç鯬 Certification OEM or model specific?

No, theÌý¶¶ÒõÉ«Ç鯬ÌýCompetency Validation is to ensure technicians can apply job preparation, safety practices, hazard recognition, knowledge, and industry standard competency and skill sets that would be applied across different sites. Training specific to the site or wind turbine would be done during the onboarding or training phase asÌýdeterminedÌýby the company.Ìý
